Community Pancake Supper
If you love pancakes, today is your day.
It's Shrove Tuesday, the last day of Epiphany,
the day before Ash Wednesday.
Many people "give something up" during
the 40 days of Lent as a way to prepare for Easter,
sometimes refraining from "pleasurable" foods
such as meat, dairy, eggs, and sugar.
But this night, also known as Mardi Gras (French for Fat Tuesday), we’ll be enjoying pancakes, syrup, fried apples, and sausage. We’ll have music, play a few games, and crown the King & Queen of the day. And then we’ll burn the palms from Palm Sunday last year to make the ashes for Ash Wednesday.
